Mountain Country Homes of Hope began as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in 1987, serving both Taney
and Stone counties in Missouri. In 2006 we formed Mountain Country Homes of Hope (MCHH) to better serve the families in our community. To date, we have built over 50 homes
for area families living in sub-standard or over-crowded housing.
MCHH is a Christian
ministry based on biblical doctrine; however, all our projects
adhere to a nondiscriminatory family selection policy where neither
race nor religion determines who will receive a MCHH home. Families
are selected on the following three criteria: Need for housing,
ability to pay and willingness to partnership.
MCHH is not a "give-away"
program. Although homes are sold at actual cost with no interest,
each family must make a 1% down payment and monthly mortgage payments.
Additionally, each homeowner family must invest 300 sweat-equity
partnership hours into building their own home or the houses of
others.
An average 3 bedroom,
one bath home costs between $ 40,000.00 to $ 50,000.00 depending
upon the location. To keep the costs as low as possible, donations
of materials, labor and land are solicited. Most labor comes from
work camps from across the country as well as local groups. No government
funds are used.
Over the past years,
MCHH has provided housing for hundreds
of people, but there is still an estimated 1,600 families living
in poverty level housing in Stone and Taney counties. We have barely
scratched the surface.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Get Involved. Pray for the MCHH ministry. Volunteer for committees
or house building projects. Contribute financially. Sponsor and
/ or contribute to local fundraising events. Remember, $ 3,000.00
builds a foundation; $ 40,000.00 will build a home, a future...
a life!
